The IKEA Distribution Centre near Piotrków Trybunalski is to grow in size, gaining a new storage facility. Construction in Jarosty is to commence at the beginning of October 2019.
At the turn of 2019 and 2020, IKEA, the Swedish furniture and decor manufacturer, will expand the transit area in the Jarosty Distribution Centre. An additional 12,000 sqm, in the form of a new three-row storage facility, will support the supply process to 23 stores in Central and Eastern Europe. The new facility will be commissioned in spring 2020.
Highest level of investor requirements
The storage facility under construction, which is in the immediate vicinity of the S8 expressway, will have a reinforced concrete and steel structure. The new investment will include the construction of a new hall with an area of approximately 12,000 sqm and 60 reloading docks, enabling internal transport of materials via a conveyor belt located between the facility and existing halls. The external area consists of approximately 15,500 sqm of roads and pavements. According to IKEA guidelines, the construction process will be verified under the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) multi-criteria certification system. Its main purpose is to verify the quality of the facility and the construction process in terms of environmentally friendly solutions. The levels of energy consumption, impact on air pollution, protection of biodiversity of fauna and flora and methods to reduce water consumption are precisely checked.
