Barbórka is the symbolic end of the motor sport season in Poland. The participants of the rally are not only rally drivers, but also racing and rallycross drivers. It is a very prestigious event in which the best Polish and often foreign drivers take part. Among them, Mariusz Górecki, President of the Management Board of Atlas Ward Polska, has started this year! This is how he sums up his participation.
– – The proposal to start in the 55th Barbórka Race, which I received from Grzegorz Olchawski, was a big challenge for me. At first I wondered if it was a good idea, but today I am very happy with the decision. New experience, a very interesting one – at first I had a lot of anxiety, despite several seasons spent in motor sports. The whole surroundings of the rally are very impressive. Nevertheless, with every kilometre of both the stress and getting acquainted with a new car, I managed to cope better and better. Now I know that unfortunately I did not drive enough test kilometres, because at full speed there were only about 50 of them. A four-wheel drive car requires a completely different kind of driving. In addition, the conditions provided by Barbórka – slippery surfaces and frost – made driving even more challenging. I felt more and more confident with each kilometre and slowly accelerated, but the goal was to reach the finish line and gather valuable experience, which I managed to achieve and I am satisfied with it.
Many thanks to Grzegorz Olchawski and the GO+ Cars Atlas Ward team for making it possible for me to start in this great event. I would also like to thank the fans who followed me to Warsaw and my wonderful wife, who withstands my trips and takes care of my family during my absence.
